My $60 vacuum cleaner repair turned into a $400 lesson last Tuesday

I tried fixing my old Dyson by watching a YouTube video and ended up snapping the main brush roll clean in half. That part costs almost as much as a new machine so I just bought a cheap Bissell from Target instead. Honestly the new one works better and I saved on the headache of half-assing a repair. Has anyone else had a 'bargain' fix blow up in their face like this?

Tbh did you at least check if Dyson sells just the brush roll separately?

Ha! I once spent an hour on the phone with Dyson support only to find out I could've just bought the whole dang machine again for half the price.
