My brother kept telling me to track every single dollar for a month, and I thought he was nuts
He said I would be shocked at where my cash was really going. I finally did it last March, writing down every coffee, gas fill-up, and grocery run. Turns out I was spending over $400 a month just on fast food and snacks from the gas station near my shop. Seeing that number on paper made me feel sick. I started packing my lunch and making coffee at home. By the end of the next month, I had an extra $350 just sitting in my checking account. I put it straight toward my credit card. Has anyone else had a wake-up call from a simple spending log like that?

Oh man, it totally is. It starts with small stuff, then the next thing you know, you're dealing with a huge mess that could've been stopped early. I've seen it happen way too many times.
