My grocery bill dropped by $40 a week after I stopped buying one thing
I read a blog post from a budget coach who said the average family spends $15 a week on single-serve drinks like bottled iced coffee and soda. I checked my own receipts from the last month and I was spending over $25 just on that stuff for myself. I switched to making a big pitcher of cold brew at home and using a reusable water bottle. It felt like a tiny change, but the savings added up fast. Has anyone else cut out a 'small' purchase and been shocked by the total?

Honestly that math never really works for me. Tbh the pitcher of cold brew still needs coffee beans and filters, plus the time to make it. Ngl my bottled coffee is a treat that saves me a ton of time in the morning. Cutting it out feels like punishing myself over a few bucks. The savings sound good on paper but life gets miserable if you cut every little joy.

Yeah I get that. I mean I used to buy the bottled stuff too but honestly making a big batch of cold brew on Sunday takes like five minutes. Idk it just became part of my routine and I don't really miss the extra cost.

Man I see where you're coming from but it's the total opposite for me. That five minutes on Sunday feels like buying back time all week since I'm not stopping at a store every morning. The bottled stuff just never tastes as good to me either, it always seems kinda weak. It's not about punishing myself, it's more like a small win that adds up. Plus I actually enjoy the little ritual of making it now.
