My neighbor's grocery total made me question my own cart
Ran into my neighbor Dave at the Kroger on 5th ave last Tuesday. He had like 4 bags of stuff and said his total was $112. I looked at my cart, had maybe 15 items, mostly name brand stuff, and I paid $87. It hit me that I've been buying the same 10 items for years without ever checking prices. Dave said he switched to buying store brand everything 6 months ago and saves about $40 a week. I looked at my receipt later and realized 5 of my items were premium brands I only grabbed out of habit. Started comparing prices on my phone while I shop now. Anyone else ever get that kick in the pants from a random conversation?

Took me 3 years to notice the 12-pack of Coke went up $4 at my own store.
