Showerthought: Store brand pasta made me rethink my whole grocery list

I always picked name brands thinking they were better. After trying a few, I save money every week without noticing a difference.

That "save money every week" part is the real proof. My take is that store brands are quietly doing us a favor by making the big companies sweat. They have to actually try now, maybe even lower their prices a bit, because the store stuff is just sitting there proving it's fine. We all win when they have to compete.

Exactly. The store brand stuff is often from the same factory lines anyway, just a different label. Noticed it with beans and pasta sauce too. Once you get past the fancy label, it's all the same mush in the can.
