The feedback that finally got me to cancel my gym membership

My buddy who's a financial advisor flat out told me I was paying $65 a month for a gym I went to maybe twice, and that money could go straight to my emergency fund. So I quit the gym, started doing bodyweight workouts at home, and put that $780 a year into savings instead. Anybody else get called out by a friend on a recurring bill you just never thought about?

Guess it depends on your goals though. Bodyweight stuff is cool but if you're trying to build serious muscle you'll eventually need heavier weights or a gym.

Need a gym just to carry my own gut around.
