TIL my thrift store find for a wedding gift was perfect, until the bride asked where it was from.

Saving money felt great, but her face when I said 'thrift store' was priceless.

Yeah it's wild how often people miss the point like that. I see it all the time where someone puts real effort into something homemade or searches forever for the right used item, and the other person just sees it as cheap or not good enough. Happens with gifts, favors, even just giving a compliment. They're looking at the price tag instead of the meaning behind it.
