Unpopular opinion: tracking my spending by hand in a notebook saved me $240 in March
Back in 2019 I used one of those apps that pulls from your bank and I never actually looked at it, just scrolled past the numbers. Last month my phone broke for 6 days so I grabbed a $3 notebook from the drugstore and wrote down every single thing I bought, even a $1.50 coffee. By the 20th I noticed I had spent $87 on lunches near my office in Rochester and started packing sandwiches instead. That one change plus a few skipped takeout nights added up to $240 by the end of March. Anyone else find that old school paper tracking works better than the apps, or is it just me?
