Update on my cash envelope system after a month of groceries

I only put $400 in the food envelope, expecting to fail, but we actually finished the month with $12 left. Has anyone else had a win with a method they thought would flop?

I always thought cash envelopes were for super strict people. But seeing that $12 left in my own grocery envelope last week was a real shock. It actually made me feel in control for once.
