A censor in Cairo told me my article was 'too hopeful', I cut it anyway

I filed a piece on rooftop gardens in Cairo and got a note back saying the tone 'might encourage unauthorized building'. After I trimmed three examples and added a warning line, they approved it. Has anyone else had to dull their own reporting just to get it through?

That happens way too often here too. Had to sand down a whole piece on recycling once.
