A Kenya story got zero coverage here but ran on loop in Nairobi last month
Tbh I was in Nairobi for work back in March and watched a local station cover how journalists got their files seized over a land deal story. Meanwhile here in the US, I searched every major outlet and found nothing, not even a mention on the international pages. That same week, Al Jazeera ran a 12 minute piece on it and I only caught it through a VPN. It makes me wonder how many big stories we just never see because they don't fit some editorial filter. Has anyone else found a story from another country that was fully hidden from your home news feeds?
Whoa hold on, is this really some big media cover-up though? Nairobi is not exactly a top priority for US newsrooms and that has been true forever. Land deal stuff in Kenya, I mean that is a local story over there, it just does not move the needle for people in Ohio or wherever. Al Jazeera covered it because they actually do global stuff, not because everyone else is hiding it on purpose. And not every outlet can run every story from every country, there is only so much air time and space. Not saying it is right, but calling it "fully hidden" feels like a stretch.
