Day trip to Juarez showed me a whole news blackout in action
Last month I crossed over for the day and stopped at a small bookshop near the main square. They had a stack of Mexican papers but zero mention of a strike at a local maquiladora that U.S. outlets covered just fine. When I asked the owner, he shrugged and pointed to the distributor list on his wall, said that paper gets pulled at the border two nights earlier. Has anyone else seen this happen in border towns, where the same story is quietly missing on one side but all over the other?

The way news just vanishes at certain borders tells you a lot about who controls what we get to see. It's the same reason my hometown paper skips stories about the big factory owners when they advertise in the sports section. People only notice the gaps when they cross a line and suddenly see the other side has a different version.
