Had to pick between covering a factory fire or a protest last month

I chose the protest because my editor said the fire was already all over local news, but then I got blocked by police and never got any usable footage while the other reporter got a front page photo out of the factory story has anyone else had to guess which story would actually break through?

Bet on the wrong horse, huh? Classic. Nothing like getting blocked by cops to really make you question your life choices. Hope the protest was at least interesting from behind that wall of blue.

Did you at least get a good story about getting blocked? I once chased a city council meeting that turned out to be about potholes (riveting stuff) while my coworker got a viral clip of a runaway goat on the highway. Really makes you wonder if we're just professional guessers with cameras.
