Just saw a video from a guy in Myanmar that got taken down in hours
This was last week. A friend sent me a link to a video shot by a local guy in Yangon. It showed a protest where the police just walked away and let people talk. It wasn't violent at all, just people standing together. The video was up for maybe three hours before the link went dead. My friend said the guy's whole channel was gone by morning. I tried searching for any news about it, but all the big sites had nothing. It's like it never happened. The video wasn't even in English, but you could feel the mood. Has anyone else caught a story right before it got wiped like that?

Ever save a video like that right away? First thing I do is download it, then mirror it to a couple cloud drives under a boring name. Screenshot the uploader's page too, before it's gone. The big sites will always be cleaned, you have to keep your own copy.

Honestly that's the only way to do it. I do the exact same thing - grab the video, rename it something boring like "tax_docs_2023.mov" and push it to two different drives. Cloud storage is cheap insurance when you think about how fast things get scrubbed. People don't realize that once a video hits a certain view count or gets reported, it's gone within hours. Screenshotting the uploader page is smart too, I've had to dig through old screenshots more than once to track down who posted something.

Used to believe the internet kept things safe. Seeing stories vanish like that shows how fragile it really is. Makes you wonder what else we never get to see.
