Update: I compared two news apps for a week, one blocked a story the other had
Used a major US app and a smaller European one. The European app had a full report on a factory fire in Bangladesh that killed 12, while the US one just had a tiny blurb. Makes you wonder what else gets filtered out. Anyone else notice big gaps like that between sources?

Check your settings in the big apps. They often have filters turned on by default for "top stories" or your location. Switched mine off and saw way more international news. Also, try adding a straight RSS reader. Follow a few wire services directly. You see the raw feed before any editor picks what's important.

But honestly, who has time to dig through settings and manage an RSS feed? Most people just want the app to show them what matters without all that work.

Ever think it's just about convenience? I used to, but seeing stories vanish changed my mind.
