Why does nobody talk about the two versions of the same protest footage from Nairobi
Last week I was trying to figure out what actually happened at those protests in Nairobi, and I found two clips of the same moment that did not match at all. One version showed the crowd moving one way, the other showed them somewhere else, and neither one had a source I could check. I ended up saving both to a folder and comparing them frame by frame for about an hour, which honestly did not settle anything. One clip came from a page that got taken down within a day, and the other is still up but cut in a weird spot. How do you all decide which version to trust when both sides swear theirs is the real one?
Frame by frame for an hour is wild, I did the same thing with a clip from the Juja road area and ended up with 40 screenshots and zero answers, so at least we're both wasting our evenings the same way. What I've learned the hard way is that the clip getting taken down fast is usually the one someone didn't want you to see, but that's not proof either. The cut spot matters too, a weird edit can hide what happened right before or after, so I try to find a longer version even if the quality is trash. Most times I just look for whoever filmed it first and check if they have other posts from that day in the same spot. If nobody can show me the raw file or the original upload, I treat both as maybe true and move on.
