Dropped $300 on a project management software that didn't work for us
I bought Monday.com last year thinking it would fix our team's workflow mess. Three months in and only two people out of twelve were actually using it. The notifications drove everyone crazy and the setup took way longer than promised. We switched back to a simple shared spreadsheet and things actually got better. Has anyone else had a tool that just didn't stick with their team?

Yeah Monday.com is a rough one for sure. Actually it's not really a project management tool in the traditional sense, more of a CRM with some task tracking bolted on. A lot of people get that mixed up. The notifications are brutal because they're designed for sales pipelines, not team deadlines. Your spreadsheet solution makes total sense though, a lot of times simpler is better when everyone already knows how to use it.

Oh come on, you can't sell Monday.com that short. I've used it on a few projects and the CRM features are actually what make it work better than traditional PM tools for a lot of teams. The notifications are crazy but you can just turn off like 80% of them in settings, takes five minutes. Spreadsheets are fine until you need to track dependencies or have someone update a status and nobody sees it for three days. Monday's automation stuff saves way more time than people give it credit for.
