Had to pick between QuickBooks and Xero for our shop

Ran a small fabrication shop in Denver for about 2 years on spreadsheets. Finally got to the point where I was losing track of invoices every month. Spent a weekend trialing both QuickBooks and Xero side by side. QuickBooks felt clunky for inventory tracking but Xero didn't integrate with my time clock app. I went with QuickBooks in the end because my bookkeeper already knew the layout. First month was rough but after 3 pay cycles things started clicking. Anybody else have a hard time picking accounting software for a hands on business?

And @loganburns the real wild part is spreadsheets actually force you to learn your numbers cold before handing them off to software.

Two years on spreadsheets for a fabrication shop" that's honestly wild to me, man. I can barely keep my personal checking account straight in a spreadsheet for two months let alone inventory and invoices for a business. Sounds like you're a lot more patient than I am, I would've lost my mind by month three.
