Hot take: that $500 'automated' social media scheduler was a total waste for my shop

Honestly, I bought into the hype last fall about needing to automate everything. This tool promised to analyze trends and post for me, saving 10 hours a week. Tbh, it was a nightmare. It kept posting weird, off-brand stuff at 3 AM, like a serious business quote next to a meme about cats. I lost two regular customers who were confused by the feed, and I'm pretty sure it hurt my engagement. I spent more time fixing its mistakes than I ever did scheduling posts myself in the old way. Ngl, I shut it off after a month and just ate the cost. Has anyone else found a simple, reliable way to handle social media without these 'smart' tools going rogue?

Yeah my buddy @lily97 actually tried one of those tools for his coffee truck. It posted a photo of a burrito at 2pm with the caption "fresh roasted beans here" and he had like 20 people asking if he started selling lunch. He spent the whole afternoon deleting and explaining. Straight up looked like his account got hacked or something.

Didn't I read somewhere that these tools often miss the mark on brand voice?

My own attempt at automation once posted a lunch special at midnight. Sometimes the old way is just less of a headache, you know?
