Our shop floor efficiency jumped 22% after switching to a visual kanban system from our old paper checklists. The change happened over about three months.

That jump from paper checklists to a visual system is huge... it makes sense though. The three month changeover is the real story, that's not an overnight fix. It shows they stuck with it through the messy middle part where people are still learning. Getting that kind of gain means the team actually bought into the new way of doing things.

My old view was that any new system had to show results right away. Seeing a team push through three months of learning changes that. The messy middle part is where most good ideas fail because people give up. Buying into a new process takes time, and that gain proves the team trusted the change. It makes me see the value in sticking with something even when it's not perfect yet.

Honestly, 22% sounds like a lot but is it really that big of a deal? @the_willow is right about sticking with it, but sometimes people just hype up these changes.
