Started scheduling all my supplier calls for Tuesdays instead of Mondays. Way better results.
I run a small construction supply operation out of Denver. For years I did all my vendor follow ups on Monday mornings. Thought it was smart to get ahead of the week. But I noticed I was getting rushed responses and constant pushback on pricing. Switched to Tuesday afternoons about 6 months ago. Suppliers are less stressed, they actually have time to talk through discounts and lead times. My material costs dropped about 8% just from better conversations. Anyone else find a weird day or time that works better for their calls?

Material costs dropped 8% from better conversations" - you sure that isn't just the market settling down?

Happens all the time really. Look at gas prices, everyone blames it on "negotiations" or "new tech" but half the time it's just supply catching up with demand after a spike. Same with lumber a couple years back, prices dropped like a rock and people claimed it was due to smarter sourcing, but really it was just builders finally slowing down. Markets do this wild dance where everyone wants a story behind every move, but sometimes a price drop just means people stopped panic buying.
