Switched from QuickBooks to a paper ledger for 3 months. Here's what happened.

I got tired of the monthly subscription fee on QuickBooks and decided to track everything in a spiral notebook starting back in January. Turns out my handwriting is worse than I thought and I spent more time erasing mistakes than actually working. Anybody else try going old school and regret it immediately?

Kept a pocket notebook for daily figures and transferred totals to a basic spreadsheet once a week. That cut way down on the scribbling mistakes.

My grandpa used to do something similar but with index cards, he'd jot down his garden yields on them and then at the end of the week lay them all out on the kitchen table to tally up. The cats would always walk across them and smear the ink everywhere, made a real mess but he never switched to notebooks. Guess the pocket notebook route is a good middle ground to avoid feline interference.
