That spreadsheet comment from my boss that totally flipped my process
My boss looked at my operations dashboard last quarter and said 'this looks like a ransom note, not data.' She was right. I had 12 tabs, color coded everything, and buried the real numbers. Now I use a single sheet with just 5 metrics that actually drive decisions. Has anyone else had a manager point out something obvious you were overcomplicating?

Oh MAN does this hit home. I got told my project plan looked "like a conspiracy theory diagram" and it stung but they were totally right.

Oh "conspiracy theory diagram" is gold, I love that. But here's the thing nobody's talking about (and I really think this matters) - sometimes that overcomplicated mess is actually a trauma response. Like, if you've ever had a boss blame you for missing something tiny, you start building these insane spreadsheets as armor. Every color and tab is basically you trying to prove "see, I thought of everything!" until someone finally says "hey, this is psychotic, stop." I did the exact same thing after a micromanager once yelled at me for not tracking something super random like coffee inventory. Took me six months and two job changes to unlearn that habit.
