Took me 4 weeks to figure out why our inventory counts kept being off by 12 units every cycle
I run the supply side for a small retail shop in Austin and we do weekly cycle counts. For a whole month every Wednesday we were exactly 12 units short on one SKU. I checked receiving logs, shipping errors, even theft. Turns out our vendor changed their case pack from 24 to 12 without telling anyone. So the barcode on the box still said 24 but we were only getting 12 inside. Has anyone else had a vendor silently change pack sizes on them?

That vendor move is super sketchy honestly. Kinda wild they'd change the case pack but keep the old barcode on the box like that. Good catch figuring it out though, that would've drove me nuts too.

Did you check if the vendor updated the SKU in their system or just slapped a new barcode on old stock? That's usually the first thing I look for when the counts don't add up...

Was it just the one SKU or did they pull this on multiple items? Curious if this is a pattern or a one-off screw up.
