Tried a new vendor onboarding flow and it backfired hard

I spent two weeks building this fancy automated onboarding system for new suppliers. We switched everything over last month and our compliance rate dropped from 88% to 62%. Turns out people actually need a human to walk them through the paperwork the first time. Has anyone else found that automation made things worse before they got better?

We kept a human check-in at the 48 hour mark after the auto-flow launched, and that one small step bumped our compliance back to 85%... automation just needed that safety net.
