Bought a $400 electric saw that just can't handle a full beef side.

Honestly, it overheats after ten minutes and I'm back to my old hand saw. Anyone know a real heavy-duty brand that won't quit?

Got a similar one that gave up halfway through a pine 2x4. Felt like I paid extra for the smoke show.

Ugh, that's the worst feeling.

Totally agree, that specific kind of frustration is the worst. Ryan's story about the smoke show is a perfect example of paying for a show you never wanted. Had a similar thing happen with a cheap drill that just whined and got hot before it finally quit (not as cool as smoke, sadly). Makes you want to just go back to using a hand tool for some jobs. The noise alone is enough to make you regret the whole project.
