Shoutout to my ancient band saw that finally gave up the ghost yesterday

The drive belt snapped mid-rib on a side of beef, so I had to finish the whole primal by hand. Anyone have a good source for parts on older Hobart models?

Man, that's rough. I read a forum thread last week where a guy was fixing up an old Hobart 4342. He swore by this place called "Parts for Saws" out in Ohio. They had a whole section for discontinued drive belts. Might be worth a quick search with your exact model number. Those old machines are beasts, but tracking down parts can be a real project.

Hey @andrew_shah69, that's a solid lead. I was reading a post on a woodworking forum about a guy who rebuilt an old Delta bandsaw. He said the same thing, that those niche parts sites are lifesavers when the big box stores have nothing. He found some weird bearing on a site that only sold parts for machines from the 70s. Definitely sounds like a deep dive search is the move.

Totally agree about those old machine parts sites. My uncle was restoring a vintage drill press and found a replacement chuck on some random website that only sold parts for pre-1980 tools. It took him forever to find it, but the site looked like it hadn't been updated since 2002. The search is half the battle with these projects, but it feels great when you finally track down the right piece. Have you had any luck with those kinds of sites before?
