Blew out a router bit on a maple shelf last Tuesday, scared the crap out of me

Tightened mine with bits of paper towel wrapped around the shank. Worked perfect.

Did you check the collet for any crud before you tightened it down?

Didn't someone on here say a dirty collet can mess with runout or something?
