Can we talk about the week I had to build a kitchen with no right angles
Last month in this old Boston house, every wall was off by at least half an inch. I spent three full days just scribing filler pieces and cutting custom shims, not building cabinets. The client kept saying 'just make it work' but wouldn't pay for the extra time. Has anyone else had a job where the prep work took longer than the actual install?

Half an inch? That's basically square in some of these places. Sounds like a normal Tuesday.

Clients never admit they knew something was off until you point it out with a level, lol. @paulhernandez is probably right that they just hope you'll fudge it and move on. Half an inch is still half an inch, but sometimes close enough really is just good enough.

Did the client ever admit they knew the walls were that bad before you started?
