Caught my grain direction wrong after 15 years, saw it at a trade show in Ohio

I was at a cabinet show in Columbus last month and watched a guy run a test piece through his drum sander. He flipped the board around so the grain was running with the feed, not against it, and the tearout just vanished. I've been fighting fuzzy edges on oak for way too long because I always assumed the feed direction was the way to go. Does anyone else check grain direction before every pass, or am I the last one to catch this?
