Just realized my shop vac setup was sabotaging my dust collection

Overheard a guy at the local lumberyard say he gets 90% less dust just by switching to a 2.5 inch hose on his cabinet saw, so I tried it last weekend and it actually made a huge difference. Anyone else done the same or is there a better way to rig up a cyclone on a budget?
