Lost $150 on a dust collection mistake I should have seen coming

I bought one of those cheap plastic blast gates off Amazon last month thinking I was saving money. Three of them cracked within two weeks from the vibration and one jammed open on my main line. Wish I had just spent the extra on metal gates from the start. Anyone else have bad luck with the plastic ones?

@palmer.zara yeah those white ones with the little handle are exactly what I'm talking about. I had one on my jointer and it didn't even last a weekend before cracking. Reminds me of the time I tried to save a few bucks on a cheap router table fence and ended up spending way more replacing bits after it slipped. Funny how you learn the hard way that some things you just can't cheap out on. @palmer.zara that jammed open gate must have been a nightmare for dust collection.

Were these the white plastic ones with the little handle on top? I've seen those crack just from sitting in a toolbox. Did you have yours on a table saw or something with a lot of shaking going on?

Yeah @palmer.zara, that's rough when good tools break on you like that.
