Ngl, I was cutting all my drawer fronts to exact size before assembly for like 15 years. A guy I met at a supply house in Spokane asked why I didn't just leave them an inch oversize and trim them flush after the box is glued up. Tried it on a maple vanity last week and the fit is way cleaner.

Spot the same thing with cooking recipes all the time. You follow the steps exactly for years, then one tiny tweak changes everything. Sometimes the best method is the one you learn after you think you know it all.

Read a study once that said our brains get locked into routines after about 10 times of doing something the same way. @jake191 that's why those small tweaks feel almost illegal at first, like you're breaking a rule you didn't know you made.
