Went to a hardwood supplier in Newark and found something off with their plywood bundles
Stopped by McCormick Lumber outside Newark on Tuesday to grab some 3/4 maple ply for a kitchen job. The first three sheets I pulled had veneer lifting along the edges, looked like they got wet at some point and then dried. I mentioned it to the guy at the counter and he just shrugged, said they've had a few returns like that this month. That place usually has solid stock, so it caught me off guard. I ended up checking every sheet in the stack and maybe a third of them had the same problem. I get that plywood can be a gamble sometimes, but this felt like they were selling off a bad batch without flagging it. Has anyone else seen this kind of issue from suppliers in the last few weeks before winter hits?
Moisture happens from temp changes this time of year, not always a bad batch. Sheets sitting in a cold warehouse then hitting warm air can sweat and lift the veneer. Worth asking if they just got that stack in recently.
