Chat with a home builder about cable path planning changed how I run lines
Was on a job in a new construction house last Tuesday and the builder stopped me before I started pulling. He said I should leave a pull string in every other stud bay even if no cable is going in yet. Said it saves hours later when homeowners change their mind about where they want ethernet. Honest to god never thought about it that way. He was right too cause the homeowner flagged me down after and wanted an extra run in the living room. Has anyone else done this pre planning thing with builders?

Builder was smart to catch you early. Most people don't plan ahead like that. I used to think pull strings were a waste unless you knew exactly what you needed. But that builder's logic is solid - homeowners change their minds all the time. Leaving string in every other bay is cheap insurance against future headaches. Makes a lot of sense honestly.

Absolutely right, @beth_hart68, cheap insurance beats expensive drywall repair every time.
