Customer asked me to hide the cable in a wall we don't own
Last week in Phoenix, this lady wanted me to fish coax through a party wall into the neighbor's unit, said 'they won't mind.' I told her no, explained the liability, and she got huffy about it. Has anyone else dealt with that weird gray area where folks think the wall is theirs just because it's touching their place?
Had this exact thing happen in a duplex last year. Lady wanted me to run cable through the shared wall so her renter could get service without paying for a second box. I told her flat out that wall is owned by both sides and drilling into it without the neighbor's okay is a lawsuit waiting to happen. She said her neighbor was cool with it but I still made her get it in writing before I touched anything. CYA always. If they won't sign off on paper, walk away. Not worth your license or your insurance when the neighbor wakes up mad about a hole in their living room.
