Finaly tackled that attic run I'd been dreading for 3 months

Had to fish coax through a 40-foot finished attic over in Oak Park last Thursday, and it was a nightmare of blown-in insulation and tight trusses. Used a glow rod and a fish tape together to make it work in under 2 hours. Anybody else got a trick for getting through deep insulation without losing your mind?

You ever try using a leaf blower to clear a path first? Changed my mind about the glow rod trick.

And that's exactly why I try to do those runs in winter when the insulation is all packed down from the cold. My buddy swears by using a shop vac with the hose reversed to blow a tunnel through it, but I tried that once and ended up with fiberglass snow all over my living room. Took me longer to clean up than it did to run the cable. I just use a really long glow rod and a lot of patience, sometimes I'll tape a piece of string to it first to test the path before committing to the actual coax.
