Had to fish a line through a firestop in an office building in Denver last Tuesday

The firestop was this solid silicone block, and I couldn't find the right bit to drill through it without cracking it. I ended up using a long 6-inch masonry bit and going super slow with a hand drill, not the impact driver. Took me 45 minutes to get one cable through, but the firestop stayed intact. Has anyone else run into these newer firestop blocks and found a faster way through them?

Try a hole saw with an extended arbor next time.

Damn man, I've been there with those silicone blocks. A spade bit with the tip ground down flat works way better for me, lets you eat through it without cracking.
