Hot take: my old school lead tech says poke the drop with a fox and hound before you trust the toner, I say it's a waste of time
He stopped me mid job in Phoenix last week and said 'kid, the toner lies, the fox and hound never does,' and honestly I still can't decide if he's right. I've been toning first for 3 years and only got burned twice, but both of those were on 20 year old RG59 runs in the same complex. So what's the move, tone first or go straight to the hound every time?
