I keep seeing new guys in our shop skip the toner check before they start pulling old coax out of a wall.

Just had a call back yesterday because a rookie cut what he thought was dead cable in a basement, but it turned out to be the main feed for the whole apartment building's security system, costing us a $500 service fee and a very angry property manager.

Did the rookie even have a toner with him?

Forget the toner, did anyone check if the printer was even plugged in? Half the time the new guy gets blamed for stuff that was broken before he walked in. Management probably hasn't replaced that cartridge since last year. Classic move to pin the whole system failure on the one person who might actually try to fix it.

Exactly. @hannah_williams nailed it, poor guy was set up to fail.
