Last week I found a buried coax line with no tracer and it bit me hard

Doing a residential swap over near Oakwood and my locator showed nothing. Dug 2 feet down with a shovel, hit a live drop from 2005 that nobody had on the map. Fried my cutter tip and got a solid 120v reminder why I never skip the grounding check. Anyone else trust old records less than a coin flip these days?

My last locator call took 20 minutes to mark anything and still missed a gas line that was 6 inches from the water main. I treat those old maps like a bedtime story, fun to read but I aint betting my tools on it.
