Spent three hours on a crawl space that should have taken twenty minutes

Got a call for a new drop in a split-level house, figured it was a simple crawl. Opened the access panel and found the entire subfloor cavity packed with old, collapsed fiberglass insulation. It was like a pink, itchy snowdrift blocking every possible route. Had to suit up, clear a path by hand, and still ended up with a layer of that stuff in my hair. Anyone have a better method for dealing with a buried crawl space besides just digging through it?

Oh man, "pink itchy snowdrift" is the perfect way to put it, that stuff is evil. I'm just picturing you emerging from that hole looking like a sad, defeated cotton candy machine. My method is just a lot of swearing and then a very long shower, lmao. Honestly sometimes the old school crawl and haul is the only way through that mess.

Gotta push back a little on the leaf blower thing. The pink stuff is heavy and wet, not dry like regular blown in. I tried a leaf blower once and it just smeared the pink goo everywhere. Made a worse mess than the original problem. Crawling and hauling is slower but you don't end up with pink sludge dripping down your walls. That shower after is still mandatory though.

Man, that pink snowdrift is the worst. Ever try a cheap leaf blower from the access point first? Might save you the full suit-up for at least some of it.
