That simple coax splice that ate my whole afternoon

I had to do a simple splice on a customer's drop line last month, figured it would take maybe 20 minutes. Two hours later I was still battling a signal issue because the connector wasn't seated right inside the weather boot. The funny part was the customer brought me lemonade and sat there watching me fail for half of that time. Has anyone else had a job that should have been quick turn into a comedy of errors?
