Why does nobody tell new guys to stop zip tying to the messenger wire
About 6 months ago an old timer named Ray rode with me for a day in Akron and watched me tie every drop to the messenger wire with zip ties like I always did. He said flat out, "kid, you're asking for a callback," because the ties rub and chew through the jacket when the wind kicks up. I switched to spiral wrap and proper J hooks after that, and I haven't had a single truck roll for a chewed drop since. Cost me maybe $40 in hardware to redo my whole kit but it saved me way more in repeat visits. Any of you running something different for aerial drops that holds up better in winter?
