Can we talk about how I was wrong on ultrasonic cleaners for shutter blades
I used to think dunking a leaf shutter in an ultrasonic tank was asking for trouble, until my bench mate Dave in Rochester showed me his setup on a Canonet QL17 last Tuesday. He runs it at 40 kHz for 90 seconds in plain naphtha, then a quick dip in clean solvent, and that shutter came out snappier than anything I've hand swabbed in years. The blades had that sticky green film gone without me prying at them with a tissue. What's your go-to time and fluid for shutters, or am I about to learn the hard way on something rare?
