Film camera fixes are getting hard to find in shops now

I've worked as a camera repairer for a long time. Recently, I noticed fewer techs know how to handle film cameras. In my shop, a new guy struggled with a basic shutter issue on an old SLR. The boss wants us to focus on digital jobs since they're faster and pay better. This shift means less training on film gear for the team. We could end up turning away clients who love their classic cameras. That feels wrong for our trade.

That new guy's shutter struggle changed my mind on film.

Honestly though, what part of the struggle got to you? Was it seeing him miss a shot because of a light leak, or just the constant worry about the focus being off? Tbh I've had rolls come back completely blank from a broken shutter and it ruins your whole week. Makes you really weigh if the film look is worth that kind of stress.

Wait, you've had a whole blank roll? That sounds awful... honestly for me it was the focus thing. I used to think film was just about the look, but seeing him miss a shot he really cared about because the focus was off... it's not just a style choice anymore. It becomes about the moment you can't get back. Makes you wonder if the stress of maybe losing the shot is worth it.
