Found a cracked shutter magnet on a beat-up Nikon F2 at the flea market

I stopped by the Brooklyn Flea last Sunday and spotted this old F2 sitting on a table for 30 bucks. The guy said it was junk but I took a look inside and saw the magnet had this hairline fracture right near the contact point. I've seen that exact crack maybe 4 times in the last year on these older Nikons. Replacing those magnets is a 10 minute job if you've got the right donor part. I grabbed it, swapped in a magnet from a parts camera I had sitting around, and the shutter fired perfectly on the first try. Nothing major but it felt good to save another one from the trash pile. Any of you guys run into this same magnet issue on the F2 or F3?

I mean, that crack is super common on the F2.

Is that crack actually caused by wear or is it a factory flaw, @mia_singh24?
