Had a shutter curtain jam on a Leica M3 in the middle of a job
Was working on it at my bench in Tacoma. The second curtain just stopped dead. Took me an hour to see a tiny spring had slipped off its post inside the drum. Had to make a special hook tool from a paperclip to get it back on track without taking the whole top plate off. Anyone else have a trick for those tiny M3 curtain springs?

Man, that's the Leica experience in a nutshell right there.

Yeah, "the feeling it gives you" is exactly it for me. I was on the fence for years about dropping that kind of money, but I finally picked up a used M240 a while back. It's clunky, the autofocus is just me, and half the time I miss the shot... but something about the way it makes me slow down and actually think about the composition just clicked for me. The money didn't buy me better photos, it bought me a different process, I guess.

Exactly. You're paying for that red dot and the feeling it gives you, not just the camera. The photos are great but you can get similar results for way less money. It's a luxury item, plain and simple.
