Pro tip: I was stripping the tiny screws on old Nikon F2 mirror boxes for years.
The moment I saw a guy at a shop in Portland use a JIS #1 driver instead of a Phillips, it clicked. I was using the wrong tool the whole time and chewing up the heads. Has anyone else found a specific tool that fixed a long-running headache for a classic model?

Oh man, that's a huge one. I mean, it's not just Nikons either. I've seen so many people fight with old Japanese motorcycle carb screws, same exact problem. It's wild how many things we assume are Phillips when they're actually JIS.

Yeah, @ray_morgan, I read a whole thing about that. They said the JIS driver has a little dot stamped on it, and the tip is blunter than a Phillips. People wreck so many screws by using the wrong tool.

My old Pentax camera had those JIS screws. I finally bought the right driver and it was like magic, zero cam-out.
