Showerthought: Why do new cameras have so many ribbon cables?

I just spent forever untangling a mess inside a mirrorless model. It's a nightmare to keep track of where each one goes.

Untangling that mess sounds rough. It hit me that all those ribbon cables might be there because robots on the assembly line can plug them in super fast, but they're a pain for us to deal with. Like, each cable is a direct path to a sensor or screen, so during manufacturing, it speeds things up. Just makes you wonder if user repair was even considered.
